Committees

In order to carry out all the projects that our club is involved with throughout the year, and to enhance your experience with Kiwanis, each member is encouraged to join one or more committees.

Community Service & Fundraising Committee
Cromarty, Alice
The Community Service & Fundraising Committee identifies specific needs of the community and presents possible solutions and funding methods which fit the interests, talents and resources of the club and community. The Community Service & Fundraising Committee explores opportunities to work in conjunction with other community, civic and governmental bodies as well as the Kiwanis International Global Campaign for Children to educate the club and community about an issue, generate funding necessary to make an impact and bring people together for a common cause.
Financial Review Committee
Dawson, MJ
Performs an annual examination of the club's financial records and prepares a written report to the board.
Membership Committee
Boettcher, Jo Ann
The membership committee monitors all aspects of membership, including invitations, retention and education — bringing in new members, teaching them about Kiwanis and then ensuring that the member experience meets everyone’s expectations The membership chair develops new member prospect lists and recruitment opportunities. The membership chair works closely with the president and secretary to plan membership drives and special club meetings for prospective members. The chair sets membership goals with input from the club president, secretary, lieutenant governor and governor.
Nominating Committee
Drummond, Kelly
Prepares and recommends the slate of directors and officers.
Programs Committee
Petri, Angela
The Programs Committee is responsible for planning club, inter-club and divisional meetings and special events; maintaining the club calendar; securing and monitoring member attendance; and making arrangements for guests and speakers at regular and board meetings; and ensuring programs and meetings are in line with planned objectives.
Public Relations Committee
Somma, Ralph
The Public Relations Committee promotes the mission, events, meetings, fundraisers, etc. of Kiwanis and the Kiwanis Club of Lindenhurst, through print and electronic media. The Public Relations Chairperson works closely with the Membership Committee, club President and Secretary to coordinate the announcement and publication of events, fundraisers and meetings.
Scholarship Committee
Biggs, Garry
Administers the Lindenhurst Scholarship fund; reviews applications and awards scholarships. Arranges the annual scholarship awards dinner.
Service Leadership Programs Committee
Magdalena-Vidal, Paula
Kiwanis provides opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to serve, lead, grow and belong. The Service Leadership Programs ("SLP") Committee includes Kiwanis club advisors for each sponsored SLP club. Its main objective is to provide support for each club in the form of financial sponsorship, training for advisors and leaders and guidance in event and meeting planning.
